The Murray River has special significance to me as I was born in a town on the river. It seems that anyone with that sort of connection always has an affinity with the Murray. I grew up on the banks of the Murray and as a young boy my biggest dream was to swim the river. To me its like an umbilical cord, and when I go there I feel like Im home. I took this shot to honour a place that is now under threat. The river that ran so wide in my youth is now beginning to suffer from abuse. Were all connected to the land and we need to protect that connection, because if we let the rivers die we will pay a heavy price.
